16/10/2009 ETAD Position Paper on Nanomaterials

ETAD recently joined the ongoing discussion on nanomaterials, in order to clarify the risk associated to organic pigments due to their variable content of nanoparticles. On the basis of the VdMi position paper from 26 March 2009, ETAD developed its specific position paper for pigments, which can be found in our Publications page.

28/05/2009 Position Paper on the Trade Union Priority List
On April, 27th 2009, ETAD wrote to the European Trades Union Confederation and the European Trades Union Institute and expressed its concern about the inclusion of C.I. Pigment Orange 13 (CAS 3520-72-7) and C.I. Pigment Yellow 14 (CAS 5468-75-7) into the Trade Union Priority List for REACH Authorisation, based on their supposed IARC classification as 2A carcinogens (possibly carcinogenic to humans). After having thoroughly checked the corresponding information about the two substances, ETAD found out that, as a matter of fact, both are not on the IARC list and, additionally, there not seems to be any other sound scientific reasons for their inclusion. Therefore, ETAD is convinced that they should be removed from the Trade Union Priority List. The complete text of the ETAD position paper can be found here.
23/04/2009 Organic Pigments Consortia
Seven organic pigments consortia have recently been formed by ETAD members together with other interested parties. To assist the consortia make their activities as widely known as possible to other manufacturers and importers, ETAD offered to communicate on this website the creation of the consortia and to publish detailed contact information for other interested companies. Please click here for a list of the consortia with corresponding lead companies and contact addresses.
18/03/2009 EuPIA LIst of Printing Inks Components

EuPIA (European Printing Ink Association) recently worked on the establishing of an inventory list for printing inks in collaboration with the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health. As a contributor to the list, ETAD had the opportunity to discuss with EuPIA and clarify some crucial points about the compilation process and the final list. The result of the meeting was a communication to ETAD members, in order to summarize the background and the current status of the EuPIA work, especially its impact on the suppliers of colorant products to the printing ink industry. The communication can be found here.
