To coordinate and unify the efforts of manufacturers of synthetic organic colorants (hereinafter referred to as the products) to minimize possible impacts of these products on health and the environment;

to achieve these ends by the most economic means without reducing the level of protection of health and the environment;

to encourage harmonisation of health and environmental regulations in key geographical areas;

to represent the positions and interests of the manufacturers of the products towards authorities, public institutions and media;

to promote responsible environmental and health risk management of the products during manufacture, transport, use and disposal;

to enhance the recognition of the commitment of ETAD members to responsible behaviour with respect to health and the environment.
